Mr. Maxwell Kofi Amoakohene has been a member of the Ghana Bar for the past thirty-five years having been called to the Bar in October 1988.
He went into private practice first with Ansa Asare & Co, Hencil Chambers from where he joined the Agricultural Development Bank in 1994 and rose through the ranks to retire with the Bank in 2020 as the Bank’s General Counsel and Head of Legal Department.

Mr. Amoakohene has acquired such rich experience within the period having attended several courses whilst with the Bank and some on his own. He has been a regular attendee at the Euro Money Training Legal programmes as well as Meirc Training & Consulting programmes in Dubai as well as local training offered by Bank of Ghana Training School and the Ghana Bar Association Continuing Legal Education programmes.

He featured in a number of recovery cases and Labour issues involving the Bank and was mostly successful.
He is exposed very well in credit delivery and was very involved in the credit processes of the Bank.

His understanding of general legal practice is deep. When a team was constituted to assess the situation of bauxite deposits, building of a refinery and to enable the Government of Ghana develop an Alumina plant he was selected by the lead company to head the legal directorate of the team.

Mr Amoakohene therefore cuts across the spectrum of legal practice but his passion has been in the area of Agricultural Financing as a result by of his twenty-six (26) working experience with the Agricultural Development Bank where as earlier said he was involved in credit assessment, approval, implementation, monitoring and recovery.

Mr Amoakohene has a Master’s degree in Business Administration specializing in Human Resources. He has a number of passes to his credit in the ACCA and consults for a number of private firms and individuals
